How Can I Save Money on Summer Vacation?

Tuesday, 19 April 2011 01:40 by Mandy
These days, we are all looking for ways to save money especially since it seems like expenses are always going up. Many people are not even going on vacation simply because the cost is more than they can afford. However, you do not have to stay home this summer. All you need to do is ask yourself how you can save money on your summer vacation. In fact, ask yourself the following questions and you will be able to find budget cutters that will make a big difference.
Am I Planning Enough in Advance?
The number one way to save money during the summer is to plan your vacation in advance. In fact, if you can plan and book your vacation a month early, you could potentially save hundreds of dollars. This is because many hotels, airlines, and parking facilities charge much less for early bookings. The closer to your actual vacation that you book these things, the more money you will end up spending.  Best practice is to book your DCA parking as early as possible.
Am I Looking for the Right Discounts?
Many people forget to look for discounts simply because they are focusing on the vacation itself. However, if you look in the right places, you will find that there are discounts on every aspect of your trip. Discount booking sites like Airport Parking Connection, can often save you money on your BWI parking bill. Be sure to use one of these sites to book your trip.
Additionally, many restaurants and attractions offer discounts and coupons that you can find online and print out. These coupons can range from a percentage off your total cost to a buy one ticket get one free deal. Be sure to shop around the Internet for any coupons you can find.
Am I Vacationing on the Right Days?
Many people include a weekend in their summer vacation, but this will actually add a great amount to your overall cost. Hotels charge much more for weeknight bookings. If you will be flying, airlines also charge much more for flights to or from your destination on the weekend. By planning your summer vacation during the week, you could save several hundreds of dollars.
Am I Packing Everything I Need?
Many people do not give themselves enough time to pack, and inevitably, they forget things. These things then have to be purchased on the trip, and the cost can add up quite quickly. However, if you give yourself plenty of time to pack, you can make sure you do not forget any of these incidentals and save yourself that cost. Do not be afraid to start planning your packing a week in advance of your trip. This especially holds true if you are packing for children.
If you ask yourself these questions, you can make sure to save plenty of money in your vacation budget. You do not have to stay home this year just because of cost, and you can find ways to save hundreds of dollars even on your next trip by planning ahead and booking your Denver Airport Parking early!

Parking for Your Flight

When you are getting ready to travel, if you will be flying, then you certainly have a great deal of planning to do. Between choosing your flight, trying to find the best deals of airfare, and determining your transportation once you arrive at your destination, there may be one thing that you forget. Have you considered how you will actually get to the airport? Unless you have a friend who owes you a favor and can give you a ride or a family member who can take time off of work, you will have to drive to the airport yourself or use a taxi service. If you are looking to save money, a taxi may be out of budget.
If you choose to drive to the airport, the next thing you will have to determine is where you will park your vehicle. If you will be gone for several days, parking can be quite pricey. When choosing from your parking options, you will have a couple of choices. Depending on what is available in your city and which you feel most comfortable with, you can save money.
Airport Long Term Parking
Airports offer a number of different parking options to make it easier for travelers. These options usually include valet parkingself park short term, and self park long term. Valet parking will, of course, be the most expensive and you will have to tip the valet. Self parking has several advantages since it will save you money and you will know just where your vehicle is parked.
Short term parking is generally more expensive per day than long term, and you should only use it if you will only be gone for a couple of days. Be sure to make certain the fees you are viewing are by the night and not by the hour though, or you could face a surprisingly expensive cost once you return.
If you will be gone for a week or more, then long term parking is the better option since the daily fees are lower, and often you can choose a weekly parking pass to save even more money.
Off Site Park and Ride
In many cities, you can choose offsite parking lots that are designed specifically for airport travelers. These off site lots will allow you to pay a fee to park and then ride a shuttle to the airport itself. The positive aspect of these locations is that they can save you a great deal of money in fees per night. The downside is that you will want to make sure that the offsite location has enough security to make sure your vehicle is safe for the duration of your travel.
When you will be travelling by plane, you will have to determine just what to do with your vehicle during your trip. While airport parking may be the most convenient, it will also be the most expensive. Offsite parking can offer much lower fees but will require some travel time by shuttle and they may not offer the security that you would prefer.
